CanvasChamp Canvas Print Review

CanvasChamp has a reputation for being one of the cheapest canvas printing companies you can find.
Usually, “cheap” means the price is low and the quality is low…
But in this case, did CanvasChamp surprise me with a cheaply priced canvas that rocked it out in terms of quality?
In this CanvasChamp canvas print review, I’ll outline the good, the bad, and the ugly of my CanvasChamp print.

About CanvasChamp

about canvaschamp image
CanvasChamp was founded in 2012 with just eight employees and one product - canvas prints. As of 2018, the company had grown to a team of more than 180 people with production facilities on three different continents. Their product line (discussed below) has grown significantly as well.
When talking about CanvasChamp, affordability is their primary concern. Their pricing on their canvas prints is surprisingly low, and a quick review of their other products reveals low pricing for items like metal prints, home decor, and photography gifts.

CanvasChamp Hours

You can order a canvas print or another item online at CanvasChamp.com any day, day or night.
If you have a problem or question, you can contact CanvasChamp’s customer service line at 1-800-993-0992. According to CanvasChamp, you can talk to a live person 24/7 if you call this number. Alternatively, you can use their contact page to get in touch.

CanvasChamp Products

As noted earlier, CanvasChamp initially offered nothing more than canvas prints. Today, their product line is quite extensive and includes everything from poster prints to photo mugs.
In terms of photo prints, you can opt for canvasmetalacrylic, or even wood, to name just a few.
You can also get a variety of novelty items, like photo mugs, banners, and photo puzzles. CanvasChamp products also include 3D photo printing, photo pillows, and photo books.

CanvasChamp Promo Code

You don’t have to look far for CanvasChamp promo codes - they are neatly listed on a dedicated coupons and promo codes page on the CanvasChamp website.
As you can see above, there is a wide range of CanvasChamp promo codes available at the time of writing, including buy two, get one free canvas print. All told, there are 48 active CanvasChamp promo codes, giving them by far the most promo codes of any canvas printer we’ve tested this year.

CanvasChamp Return Policy

According to the CanvasChamp return policy, if your print is defective, CanvasChamp will replace the canvas or fix it at their cost.
To get a reprint or a refund, you have to send a photo of the damage or defect along with a clear description of the problem to CanvasChamp by emailing them at cs@canvaschamp.com. If CanvasChamp’s review of the images results in a decision that the problem is due to a manufacturer’s defect, you’re provided with a return authorization number so you can return the product. This only applies for the first 90 days after receipt of the order.
As a nice touch, CanvasChamp will pay for return shipping costs. Not all companies offer that, and it’s a nice bonus.

CanvasChamp Reviews

According to ShopperApproved, CanvasChamp has a 4.7-star rating (out of 5 stars), which is based on more than 116,000 reviews. But on TrustPilot (shown above), the CanvasChamp Reviews aren’t so rosy, with an overall rating of 2.9 stars (out of 5 stars), which is based on 153 reviews.
A detailed review of CanvasChamp by PCMag resulted in middle-of-the-road marks - 3.5 out of 5 stars.

CanvasChamp Canvas Print Review

canvaschamp canvas print review image
I’ve been reviewing canvas prints from multiple companies over the last few weeks. This is part of an upcoming canvas print shootout in which I compare these prints head-to-head to see which company comes out on top - and which one is at the bottom.
Unfortunately, CanvasChamp is in the running for the bottom position…
I will say that upon first seeing the print and holding it in my hands, my first impression is that it wasn’t too bad. But that feeling didn’t last long.
When I started to examine the print, I began to see just how course the canvas is. What’s more, while the colors aren’t terrible, they aren’t spectacular either. They’re a little flat, and the green tones, in particular, seem to have lost some of their vibrancy.

I included an obscenely large signature on the image I sent to each company to test them and see who made necessary corrections to it on their own (or contacted me for guidance).
CanvasChamp did neither of these things, so as you can see above, the signature has been completely hammered and looks like something written in Klingon.
In looking at the corners of the canvas, you can instantly see that they aren’t stretched properly. There is too much overlap and the corners (three of the four, anyway) look extremely sloppy.

At first glance, the canvas is nice and tight. But upon turning the canvas over, you can see that the canvas has been mounted to some kind of pressed wood that gives the illusion of the canvas being tight.

The frame itself certainly isn’t doing the job of holding the canvas taught, as it is poorly constructed of rough lumber that reminds me of the wood used to make pallets. The corners show splintering, as though the wood was cut with a saw blade that hasn’t been sharp in quite some time.
The irony is that there is a sticker on the back of the print that says “Handmade with love in India,” but there’s really nothing about this print or its frame that screams “high-quality, handmade product.”

I will say that I do appreciate the straight cuts of the canvas on the back. That part at least looks clean and tidy, and as though there is at least some level of quality control.

But the staples holding the canvas to the frame are far too sparse, and the mounting hardware that was included with the frame is neither straight or centered.
So, how much did all this “craftsmanship” set me back?
Price: $28.03 (after a $1.48 discount)
Tax: No tax
Shipping: $14.99
Total: $43.02
To be fair, shipping could’ve been less expensive, but since the price of the canvas was so low, I opted for faster (and more expensive) shipping.
It’s also worth mentioning that when I was ordering this canvas, I was distracted by a phone call as I was getting my shopping cart ready. Almost instantly, I was prodded with their abandoned cart sequence, which offered a 5% coupon (thus the $1.48 discount noted above).
I want to note something else - CanvasChamp only accepts images up to 25-megapixels, which I found to be unnecessarily restrictive.
So, although I initially thought this print wasn’t terrible, once I got down to brass tacks and started to evaluate it up close, it quickly became clear that this is not a quality print. I would have been embarrassed had this been drop shipped to a client!
I’ve got more details to share about this CanvasChamp canvas coming up in my $100 canvas print shootout, so stay tuned for that!
