There were 40 real customer reviews of the Canon EF 50mm f/2.5 Compact Macro lens, all giving it a 4-5 star rating. If you would like to read these reviews you can do so here.
I have had the Canon EF 50mm f/2.5 Compact Macro lens for many years. It was my first dive into the world of the 50mm! I am not sure if this lens can still be bought, maybe on Ebay. I think it has been replaced by the 60mm model. This is a great little lens for capturing all my wedding details.
Be aware that it is quite a noisy lens if you are planning to use it in a quiet place, such as a church. I suggest manually focusing it when you find yourself in situations where you don’t want to disrupt people.
As an inexpensive alternative to the f/1.2 model, it handles quite well and would be a great starting point for your collection of lenses.
These are my opinions on how I use this lens every day of my life. If it feels good in my hands, then I use it! This equipment is an extension of my eye and how I see my world and the social world within which I work. That was why I started to use Canon products more than 20 years ago. If a piece of equipment allows you to capture your vision, then use it. It is only when a piece of equipment is a hindrance that you should change it.
